Benefit of Meal Replacement Protein Smoothies



Let me just start by saying…  Yes, I am bias. I love protein smoothies as a meal replacement in the mornings, and it is something I try and do daily. However, it is for a good reason, and here is why.

Studies have shown that replacing a sugary breakfast like cereal, or no breakfast at all, with a high – protein breakfast is incredibly beneficial to your health. Among its benefits are suppressing your hunger hormone; ghrelin, curbing your appetite, and decreasing cravings.

We are so busy all the time! It is absolutely understandable if you do not have time to make a super healthy meal for breakfast. I will be the first to admit that I love to sleep. I always push it to the last moment before I MUST get up. That typically means that I don’t have time to make breakfast. That is why making these high – protein smoothies are so beneficial. Not only do I have breakfast, but it is also helping with weight loss AND it is super yummy.

Yes, you did just read ‘weight loss’. One meta-analysis, using six studies, concluded that a smoothie meal replacement “can safely and effectively produce significant sustainable weight loss and improve weight-related risk factors of disease.”

I don’t think it is any secret that protein shakes have taken over the fitness scene over the past few years. However, you must be careful which protein powder you use. Please take a minute to look over the ingredients before you buy. You are primarily looking for plant based protein. These are typically rice or pea proteins. These proteins mimic the creaminess of dairy without the negative effects!
